TV Appearance: Recognizing Fentanyl
I spoke with PIX 11 in NYC during their PIX Parenting segment about the dangers of fentanyl, advise for parents on how to approach the subject, and what I wish I had done differently before my oldest son died at age 33 after using fentanyl.
Whether your child is a teen or a young adult, the dangers of this drug are horrifying. One use can kill and it’s very common for kids not to know they’re taking it.
Talk to your kids early and often. Don’t minimize what appears to be emotional health challenges. Encourage your children to speak with therapists, family members, or other trusted adults. And most of all, help them understand, that if they are going to use, never to do it alone.
If you’re at all concerned about your child, seek professional guidance and have Narcan in your home.
